Brie Larson is the next celebrity to step up and rep her favorite villager. Responding to a fan question asking the actress which Animal Crossing: New Horizons villager stole her heart, she quickly gave her response. “My favorite is Soleil, I think. Soleil is so cute. I think they’re a hamster, and they have like a little purse.”

The 17-minute video is not just about Larson gushing over her enjoyment of accessorized hamsters. Her first gameplay video saw Larson start a new island and go through her current woes about crossing over to a new Switch. Since New Horizons’ saves cannot be transferred, she had to start a new island on the stream. Although starting fresh gave Larson the chance to talk about her history and love of the franchise and answer fan questions.
While there is no dismissing a player’s pick for their favorite islander, the true worth of a villager comes through their price. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has cultivated a black market for villagers. Villagers in high demand go for an exorbitant amount off Bells or even real money as players flock to Discord for trades. While Nintendo has started to crack down on villager trading, it’s still worth a gander to tell how popular and in demand a villager is.
So where does Larson’s snooty-yet-fabulous hamster rank? According to most metrics she’s an inoffensive addition to the villager rankings. She has earned some fans though through her deceptive appearance. Soleil is actually considered one of the sweetest villagers despite her grumpy look. That could easily be a reason why Larson fell for the Hamster Diva.
Larson will likely have to talk more about Animal Crossing and Nintendo fairly soon. The Captain Marvel and Room actress will be joining Gary Whitta on his Animal Crossing talk show next week. Animal Talking has been something of a novelty and necessity during this lockdown period. Larson is not the only celebrity to use this time to gush about their love of gaming.
Larson definitely had some fun exploring her new island and considering the video has over 300,000 views in just over three days, fans can likely expect more Animal Crossing updates.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
