The Brisbane International will next month honour Australian tennis great Evonne Goolagong Cawley, winner of seven Grand Slam titles, dedicating the women’s singles trophy to her.

Cawley will present the trophy to the women’s winner Saturday, January 7.

“Let’s hope it’s to an Australian like Sam Stosur or Ash Barty,” Goolangong Cawley said out at the Queensland Tennis Centre Thursday, The Australian reported.

The men’s singles trophy was dedicated to Roy Emerson last month, while Ken Rosewall and Margaret Court’s names adorn the Sydney International trophies.

Brisbane’s increase in prize money has attracted a stellar women’s field which include Grand Slam champions Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Kim Clijsters, besides Stosur.
